Issue Position

Skyrocketing property taxes are making it harder for local families to make ends meet. Sam voted to cut property taxes for all homeowners and provide additional relief for seniors and veterans.

Additionally, Sam is making sure that Springfield politicians keep their commitment to our schools. Sam fought to force the state to properly fund education, taking a critical first step toward real property tax relief.

Contributing to our high property tax assessments is the fact that they're controlled by a county assessor appointed by political insiders, leaving taxpayers with no voice in the process. Sam is leading the fight to take control of our property tax bills by making the Lake County Assessor an elected position, bringing much-needed accountability to the office and empowering voters to rein in skyrocketing property tax assessments.
